Field-of-Interest Funds

  • Berkeley Hall Charitable Fund: The Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of Bluffton, South Carolina residents and residents of neighboring Beaufort County, especially those who are most vulnerable, and promoting philanthropy and acting as an effective steward of charitable funds. The applying nonprofit organization must be a legal 501(c)(3) registered in the State of South Carolina and the awarded funds must only be used to substantially serve the most vulnerable residents in the greater Bluffton community.   • Colleton River Charitable Fund: The vision of Colleton River Charitable Fund (CRCF) is to end the cycle of generational poverty in the Greater Bluffton community. The mission of Colleton River Charitable Fund is to give our neighbors in need the tools and support to build a better future for themselves and their families. This is rooted in a focus on hunger, housing, health and education. “We’re all in this together”.   • Jasper Community Fund: Established to provide a permanent and on-going source of assistance for the Jasper County community for today and for generations to come. The fund will provide grants to assist qualified nonprofit organizations in meeting the growing needs of the citizens of Jasper County and to work toward improving the quality of life for all Jasper County residents.
  • Lowcountry Strong Foundation: This fund’s aim is to assist and enrich the lives of Beaufort and Jasper County families, and partner with community members, to serve those less fortunate. The fund’s initial efforts focused on providing support for programs and services addressing Hurricane Matthew disaster assistance. This fund is not currently accepting grant requests.
  • Palmetto Dunes Cares: A charitable organization whose motto is: Giving back while building community. Our mission is to support local youth and enhance the natural environment of the greater Hilton Head Island area through grants and scholarships. This year we are creating new initiatives and programs with the goal of building an environmental stewardship community that actively supports and engages our local youth and all who live, visit, and work in Palmetto Dunes. The focus for 2023 is to award grants to organizations providing services to local youth or the environment. We do seek significant and innovative projects, including those with a multi-year focus.   • The Port Royal Community Charitable Fund: The purpose of the Port Royal Community Charitable Fund is to provide grants to benefit our neighbors in Beaufort, Hampton, Jasper and Colleton counties; to respond to people in need; and to provide resources to help improve the lives of people in the Lowcountry. The theme for 2024 Port Royal Community Charitable Fund grants is for programs or projects designed to break the cycle of poverty through education by improving academic readiness and performance for children, birth through elementary school. This may include helping families connect to educational opportunities and resources. Project grants up to $20,000 will be awarded in June and the project must be completed no later than May 31, 2025, when your final report is due.   • Women’s Association of Hilton Head Island Charitable Fund (WAHHI):Since our founding in 1961, WAHHI has made generous donations to projects that benefit our community. In 2016, we established the WAHHI Charitable Fund administered by the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. Since then, we have awarded grants to local nonprofits to support specific program needs for the community. The grants will encourage and recognize programs that respond to the ever-changing needs of our community through innovative approaches to meet community challenges. This year we are specifically wanting to support educational programs that aim to improve the lives of women and children. We urge you to be creative in your responses, i.e., can the program connect WAHHI women who wish to volunteer; is there an opportunity to collaborate on the project with other nonprofits? Disaster Recovery and Rebuilding Fund Grants

The Disaster Recovery and Rebuilding Fund was established to collect monetary contributions to support disaster response, recovery and rebuilding grantmaking to eligible regional, community-based 501(c)3 nonprofits, faith-based organizations or equivalents responding to community needs in the aftermath of an officially-declared disaster.
