the:italian:job - LPM day 3
around 1 o'clock in the afternoon, flux woke up because his mobile phone was humming next to his bed. the same ceremony as the day before started: shower, floor cleaning, coffee, cigarette... except that this time, the woner of the flat came home, mumbling curses, seeing his wet hallway and the broken image on the floor. our quartet did some smalltalk with him and left the house as soon as possible, finally with casual tshirt and jeans. dropping by at Tony's for amazingly great coffee for 1 eur and a panino for breakfast, they continued to go to the Linux Club. It was around four in the afternoon when they arrived there. =ff= had three hours left to prepare for their presentation of VisualBerlin and AVIT>C23, so they spent this time downloading photos and videos, doing photoshop magic and trying to put everything together as a PDF presentation. the presentation was held with an english to italian translator,. it was quick, dirty and of course there were sound problems, as expected, but all in all the audience was pleased and fflux was approached by a lady from telenoika.net from barcelona and later they talked a while with mat/kinotek from vjcentral.it.

after this, returnofthespaceinvaders and =ff= decided to escape this nerd vault for some more nightly sightseeing. they rode the metro to Colosseo and walked around the colosseo and up on the chapel hill where they had a beautiful sight over the illuminated city. a lone guitar hero was sending his licks and riffs through the night just at the colosseo, from guns'n'roses to queen and with music loops in their heads, our four video heros decided to walk to Trastevere to have some drinks and snacks and enjoy the last evening in Rome. They ended up, walking in circles, always passing the colosseo, and finally they bought some beer within a humming clowd of queers and left the place asap. they aimlessly walked through small, big, wide and narrow streets, randomly seeking walls, the river or other things as "orientation", and after asking dozens o locals, always being directed into completely different directions, they ended up in a small pseudo-british pub, which served british panini and Berliner Kindl beer.. Having snacked up and tanked some booze, the quartet optimistically walked in the direction of which they thought the Linux Club would be, which resulted in a two hours odyssey through industrial areas, across highways, through silent and scary hoods, across railways, through piles of leaves until they finally earrived at the Linux Club, from a totally different direction they escpected...

In contrast to the time they had left the club for their sightseeing trip, the place now was totally crammed, outside and inside, and the DJs were spinning fast drum'n'bass grooves. They enjoyed themselves, tried to dance a little bit, socialized with the other VJs and finally said goodbye to Valeria, Mitja, Gianluca, Fabio, Valentin, Sad DJ and all the other nice people. They went back to their accomodation place at around 5:30 and the spaceinvaders hit the sack instantly while =ff= were still trying to push all their cables and clothes into their cases.

sun was rising when fflux and ffRED had a final cigarette and walked through the peaceful morning towards metro station Punto Nuovo. At Termini they caught the bus and dazed off within the glimpse of an eye. One felt minute later they were standing at the airport, checking in, drinking epsresse, smoking and finally bordering after having passed the security check chaos.

They found two decent seats in the airplane, =ff= fell asleep within a second...

what a great trip!

=ff= would like to thank Bram & Liutger of returnofthespaceinvaders, Mitja, Gianluca, Valeria, Antonio, Fabio and the rest of Flyer Communication and LPM 2006, Valerija & Valentin of GC Agency, Matthia of vjcentral.it, Tony's Bar, Formula 1, met.ro. the LinuxClub and everyone else involved in this Rome Trip

Yea!
What a trip! Great writing, Tobi! Always surprised of your challenging English skills - although that story was actually an Italian one.

Ragazzi! See ya in Berlin!
