yesterday, the new mac mini with intel core solo and duo was released. it seems to be a really sweet machine, 4x faster than the previous G4 based mac mini. it's good for office work, games and livingroom hub, but being a VJ, i am still missing important features:

- there's no dual screen
- the video memory is shared with the system memory

i am hoping for the new iBooks...

today is the 22nd birthday of the apple macintosh computer. what an evolution...

yes - i was nervous sitting in the metro, wanting it to be faster so i'd be home early and catch the steve jobs keynote on time. the apple chatrooms are full of hysteric macians discussing the latest news - so i closed all the chat windows and relaxed in front of the macrumours newsticker waiting for highlights between all the ipod, .mac photocasting, arperture and iphoto babbling - here's what i declared important for myself:

09:25 - mac os 10.4.4 is out
09:42 - imovie with new look, videocasting and ipod export
09:45 - idvd with widescreen menus
09:54 - new blog app iweb to share ilife content
10:14 - new intel imac core duo 2-3 times faster than G5

and now the most important news:

10:30 - powerbook is dead - long live the MACBOOK PRO with dual core processor, 4 to 5x faster than before, 15.4" widescreen ultrabright lcd and integrated isight, magnetic power adapter, infrared sensor, shipping in february, 1.67ghz available for 1999 and the 1.83ghz for 2499 $.

neben den neuen powerbooks wird die nächste macworld expo noch weitere überraschungen parat haben: z.b. den neuen mac mini - codename =kaleidoscope= - der einen intel chip, 3,5= festplatte, frontrow und dvr funktionalität mitbringen wird, sowie ein ipod dock...damit wird es seiner bestimmung als =digital hub= centerpiece mehr als gerecht_°

laut informationen von appleinsider wird es bereits vor april die neuen intel-basierten powerbooks geben - flacher und mit integrierter isight kamera | apple's mactel strategie soll es angeblich auch möglich machen, in zukunft mehrere betriebssysteme auf den intelmacs zu installieren und diese unter osx auch in einem fenster laufen zu lassen_°

ein hack macht es seit macos 10.4.3 möglich, auch auf anderen macs neben den neuen powerbooks den safe sleep / hibernate modus zu aktivieren - bei dem der arbeitsspeicherinhalt auf die platte geschrieben wird_°
